My dress - I chose the original one just two weeks after our engagement, from a little boutique, out in Woburn, I was convinced it was the one. It was the tightest mermaid dress, with cross over straps. Then when it arrived four months later, completely made for me…I stood up on the podium in the boutique horrified because it was not what I wanted anymore. I am so indecisive.

Fortunately the lady who owns the boutique is the nicest lady ever, and she let me put my deposit onto another dress, so we did not loose any money, we had two more trips to the boutique and I picked my perfect dress.

 I feel so much happier about it. My old dress has since been in a wedding show, so hopefully someone else will buy it who loves it. To be honest it was so tightly fitted, I would have not been able to move or eat or breathe. Everyone in the boutique kept telling me
 “it’s fine you’re not meant to breathe on your wedding day”
which added to my horror.

 I want to breathe and I want to eat ice cream and cake.

I expect I will be so adrenaline ridden I won’t eat anything much at all.

But yes I tried on lots;

I tried on big poufy princess dresses, lace dresses, dresses with detail all over, Grecian dresses, a dress covered in crystals, ruffles , with one strap , some exceptionally fussy dresses and beautifully simple dresses.

My advice is this.

Do not put pressure on “the one” there are in fact lots of “ones” because there are so many styles.

I think you need  a dress that you put on and think

“I feel like a bride and I want to get married in this dress”.

And if you want to be able to breathe. You should be able to!

So yes, now I have to wait for my new…(even more expensive) dress to arrive. I am having a few alterations because I want it to be unique.

We met our flower lady yesterday. She is the sweetest girl. She runs a little shop in Milton Keynes Village which is really cold but smells beautiful. I took along my bunting, milk bottles, Abigail's twine heart wreath and my laptop with lots of pictures.

She knows exactly what we would like. All those wedding magazines have been so helpful with ideas, I cut out everything I like and scrap book it. Many things are horrendously priced in the magazine but research and the internet can provide you with the same things but for less!

So flowers. I want an unstructured bouquet. I love amnesia roses. I love babies breath. I love cream and white roses. I love succulents. Budding eucalpytus. Rosemary sprigs.

So that is my bouquet. A mix of all of those together. I am so excited about it and I doubt very much I will throw it.
